MIAX Futures Exchange - Onyx Trading Platform and Clearing System - FIA Disaster Recovery Pre-Test and 2026 Test
MIAX Futures Exchange will participate in the industry-wide Futures Industry Association (“FIA”) sponsored Disaster Recovery (“DR”) pre-test on Saturday, September 26, 2026 and test on Saturday, October 24, 2026. U.S. futures exchanges, clearing houses, futures commission merchants, back-office providers, and data vendors will test connectivity and functionality between DR sites. All MIAX Futures Clearing Members are required to participate in both the Pre-Test and Test. Failure to participate as required may result in disciplinary action. Although your firm may work with a technology vendor to complete required test components, each Clearing Member is responsible for certification of final test results.
September 26, 2026: Pre-Test Connectivity
- Pre-Test on Saturday, September 26, 2026:
- Onyx Trading Platform:
- MIAX Futures DR connections will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. CT. Firms, data vendors, and clearing members may test connections to the Onyx trading platform during that time.
- MIAX Futures Clearing:
- To test connectivity, all Clearing Members must connect and download any previous TREX file from the MIAX Futures DR SFTP detailed below, using regular production credentials, any time between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. CT.
- MIAX Futures SFTP will be failed over during testing to the Production IP Address 2 listed in the SFTP request form. Firms may test this connection at any time leading up to the test as it is always available.
- Required Responses:
Please contact MIAX Future Clearing at (612) 321-7146 or MIAXFuturesClearingOperations@miaxglobal.com by Monday, September 21, 2026, to confirm your participation in the pre-test.- Please include a contact name, email and phone number for the pre-test.
- Once testing is completed, send an email to MIAXFuturesClearingOperations@miaxglobal.com noting if testing was successful or details of any issues.
- Onyx Trading Platform:
October 24, 2026: Test Script
Clearing Members must complete the following four test components during the DR test:
- Trade Entry – MIAX Futures Onyx Trading Platform
- All Clearing Members must send at least two orders and receive at least one Commodities execution confirmation. Additionally, all Clearing Members with connections to Financial Futures Trading Platform (NY5), must send at least two orders and receive at least one Financial Futures execution confirmation.
- Products:
- Hard Red Spring Wheat Futures (MWE) i.e. MWEZ6
- Hard Red Spring Wheat Options (OMW) i.e. OMWZ6 C0750
- Bloomberg 100 Index (TBQ) i.e. TBQZ26
- Bloomberg 500 Index (TBX) i.e. TBXZ26
- Prices in MIAX Futures products should be entered at the previous day’s settlement price to ensure your orders match with other participants.
- October 24, 2026 Test Day Timeline:
- 7:30 a.m. CT – Firms can connect to the Trading Systems
- 7:45 a.m. CT – Live Order Window (LOW) First Pre-Opening
- 8:30 a.m. CT – Opening
- 12:00 p.m. CT – Closing
- MIAX Futures will provide updates as to exact pre-open and open times via the FIA conference bridge available.
- Once a firm has completed Onyx match engine testing, please confirm with MIAX Futures Trading Operations at MIAXFuturesTradingOperations@miaxglobal.com.
- Trade Entry – MIAX Futures Clearing System (MCS)
- In addition to entering trades on Onyx, Clearing Members must enter an ex-pit transaction (EFP/EFR/Block) via MCS. Clearing Members should simply enter both sides of the transaction to ensure a successful match occurs in MCS for this portion of the test.
- Hard Red Spring Wheat Futures (W) i.e. W 12 26 (commodity, month, year)
- Hard Red Spring Wheat Options (WC or WP) i.e. WC 12 26 750 (comm., mth, yr, strike)
- Clearing Members should use October 24 for the trade date.
- Post Trade Documentation – Retrieve MIAX Futures TREX Trade File
- Trades entered into Onyx and MCS during the exercise will be processed by the MIAX Futures Clearing House, and Clearing Members must download the corresponding TREX trade file. Clearing Members will utilize the MIAX Futures DR SFTP server to retrieve the TREX files. The trade file name will correspond with the new convention being used today, i.e. – TRXzz_yyyymmdd.txt (where zz equates to the Clearing Firm code & yyyymmdd equals trade date).
- Post Trade Documentation – Submit to MIAX Futures
After completing the above steps, Clearing Members must submit the SFTP file available via the MIAX Futures DR SFTP site to MIAX Futures by emailing MIAXFuturesClearingOperations@miaxglobal.com. Upon submitting, MIAX Futures staff will inform the Clearing Member whether they have successfully completed the FIA DR test for MIAX Futures or if further action is required.
